Better Tasting Water

So did you ever feel like you couldn’t drink another glass of water even though you had read over and over how important it is for you? Well, it is very important and we try to stress that here at Infertility Workshop.  If you have menstrual cramps for instance, then water will hydrate your muscles to help them not to cramp as much.   If you have issues with miscarrying early on, you may be surprised to know that the muscles of uterus are MUSCLES and that means you need to be hydrated in order to keep from becoming rigid and not being able to contract and release lightly for the proper blood flow. So how to drink that 64 oz per day or more?  I have been juicing for many years and have recently found thrown in among the recipes a common answer. Tasty Water is what I call it, or Better Tasting Water and it consists of: 1 gallon pitcher of water (filtered or well is always best) 1 lemon washed and then cut into thin slices.  (take off the ends) 1/2 tsp grated fresh ginger.  Just peel it and grate it. 1 peeled cucumber sliced thin. Your favorite fruity tea bags as long as they don’t have sugar can also be added to make your water taste better too.  I like Celestial Seasonings tea for yummier water.  There are so many great flavors but my favorite would be a combination of True Blueberry and Wild Berry Zinger.  In a 2 quart pitcher put 2 Wild Berry Zinger and 1 True Blueberry and let steep until room temperature. ...

Good Morning Greens

Let me be as honest as possible.  It would be quite unusual for anyone to say this is her favorite juice the first time she makes it. But, if you are hoping for a baby with all you do instead of passively hoping and letting life go by in the meantime, then you are going to be willing to do this drink.  It gets better every day. Drink up!  Your baby is waiting.   Good Morning Greens; In the hopper place: 1 cup Kale – this is about 2 large or 2-3 small stalks of kale. 1 cups Spinach – Spinach is something that  you can easily use that comes in baby form. 1/2 medium Cucumber 4 stalks Celery 1 Green Apple 1” Ginger root 1/2 bunch parsley; curly, flat or even cilantro will do.  1/2 bunch equals a good handful. Optional: At first you might add another apple or 1 whole cucumber to thin it out. Optional also or only: 1/2 med beet.  This will add nutrition as well as a sweetness to the juice. Morning Pucker

Many of the detoxifying juice fasts and programs agree on the best way to start the day; with a lemon!  Waking up your liver, gall bladder and pancreas with a Morning Pucker. It doesn’t get any easier:  Roll a lemon on the counter and press firmly as you do. Cut off one end, enough to put in a hand juicer gadget (shown here) or use a manual citrus juicer.  Pour or juice into your glass. Boil some water and put about /4 cup of hot water and 2/3 cup cool water in a glass.  (Pour in the cool water first so the glass doesn’t break.) Make sure the seeds are out of the glass. Drink it down and pucker up. Let it sit with you while you juice your Morning Sunrise or Good Morning Greens. Enjoy!  Read all about lovely lemons.   Share and...

Morning Sunshine

Morning Sunshine is how I start the day every day of my life.  It is great for weight loss and the Vitamin C makes it amazing for fertility / infertility.  Nourish your adrenals and save your hormones The most important thing to know about juicing for weight loss, fertility, detoxing (detoxifying) is how to start your day.  Consider that every night you probably go to bed thinking that tomorrow is going to be different.  Well tomorrow truly CAN be different! Start your day with the Morning Pucker. Then get your juicing going and add these to the hopper: 1 medium grapefruit 1 juice orange or a juicy orange.  I juicing orange has thinner skin.  It is not the same as a navel orange and they are smaller.  They might have spots on them but that is OK. 1 lemon with the rind removed or cut off.  Leave some of the pith (the white part) if possible.  Though it is more bitter than the center it is where a high concentration of Vitamin C is found. 1 – 1″ cube of ginger root.  You can leave the skin on if it is organic or cleaned. Optional to take the edge off would be a few strawberries, leaves and all.   Share and...

Ms Testimony

This testimony is from M who does not want her name, her husband’s or her baby boy’s on the web but feels that her testimony might help others.  Her natural approach to health paid off; TWICE. But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall rise up withwings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary , they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah40:31 – The Lord gave me this verse at age 13 to be my life verse – but it wasn’t until myrecent struggle with infertility that I understood the depth of His love for me and a true understanding of that scripture from the Old Testament. As a young women – if you would have asked me if I was ever to get married – I wouldhave put my nose up at you and said emphatically – NO – or at least not till I am in my30’s – . My priorities as a young women (not that I am too old now heheh – will be 30 inJanuary2001) were God first – then traveling and seeing the world and my career – I had notime for men in my life —– HAH! when I was 20 – I had just come back from Israel – andmet the love of my life – I fell gaga googoo in love with my husband and we were marriedwhen I was 23. Now if you had asked me at that time if I wanted kids – again that lookwould have come upon me – like are u crazy? I have no desire nor time...

Lauras Testimony

I have hesitated to share my news with the group, as I know how receiving someone else’s good news feels. However, I believe my struggles and success may help others and therefore I share with you today. I am almost 9 weeks pregnant. (Laura gave birth to a baby girl in September 2000 and then did another cleanse and had a baby boy in 2004)  If you bear with me, I’ll share my story as best I can.  These are her words. My dh and I are both 35 now and have been ttc #1 for 2 years. We have/had unexplained infertility. I did see an infertility specialist (RE: Reproductive Endocrinologist) after 6-9 months without success. When I first starting seeing the RE I had little knowledge of my own body or general reproduction. I am in the health field (dietitian), however andtherefore understood basic medicine. We did the usual tests. Hormones, checked for anemia, thyroid and other unusual labs. Everything was normal. Mydh also did a standard sperm analysis and this, too was normal. It was then suggested we do an HSG (dye test to see if my tubes were clear). We did it and it, too was normal. Mycycles were deemed regular (29-31 days always) and from best of my knowledge I always ovulated. My weight has always been good, I routinely exercise. I eat a generally good, mostly vegetarian diet. So, it was then determined that we had unexplained IF. At this point, my RE suggested Clomid. I asked why and she said, it could boost my ovulation, provide a stronger egg(s).  I hesitated, but decided...

Understanding D Chiro Inositol

Foods High in Inositol NOT the drug d-Chiro-inositol but the REAL inositol stuff! Quantities are approximated per 100 grams of food stuff, which is a little under 3.57+ oz.(each oz is 28 grams) 1,200 milligrams of Inositol was the therapeutic dose used in testing of the drug d-chiro-inositol (chemically carried inositol). The first column is the milligrams of inositol in each 100 grams of the food .The second column is the grams of food you would have to consume to get 1200 milligrams of inositol.  To put it simply: in 4 oz of soy lecithin you get almost twice the amount needed daily where as with beef you would need 1 1/2 lbs per day.  As you go down the table you need higher amounts of the food but the other benefits of the foods are not factored in here.  Consider that when eating a balanced diet. The grams needed column was rounded to the nearest 1/100th since it becomes arbitrary at that point. (tests done showed numbers extended well past 1/100ths place.) Remember to divide grams needed by  28 to figure out how many oz. would equal grams needed. FAQs of Juicing for Fertility

Are you ready for juicing?  Want to make eating for fertility even easier?  Juicing is a little work for a LOT of benefit. Use the contact form to write with your juicing questions.    Q:  What juicer is the best? A:  There are so many great juicers out there. I don’t believe you have to have an expensive juicer at first.  Work your way up, if you want, but I have never needed something fancy.  At this writing I use a Jack La Lane Power Juicer.  We are just going to talk about what makes  good juice, why juice and how to juice. Q: Why Juice? A:   Juicing is a natural way to supplement your diet with natural vitamins and enzymes.  Juice is able to enter your system with very little work for your digestive system because it is already broken down. Q:  Are organically grown foods better? A:   By all means.  Organically means it is pesticide and GMO free with higher growing standards. Q:  Some juicer companies make a lot of health claims about their machines, are these claims legitimate? A:   A juicer must be able to liberate the hidden values from fibers and place them into the juice under pressure without loss by aeration or static in order to obtain the full nutritional value of such juices extracted from fruits and vegetables. Juicing Tips from Cherie Calbom’s book “The Juice Lady’s Juicing for High Level Wellness and Vibrant Good Looks” 1.  Wash all produce before juicing; fruit and vegetable washes are available from many grocers and health food stores. Cut away all moldy, bruised, or damaged areas before...

Benefits of Bee Pollen

THE BENEFITS OF BEE POLLEN.  A GENERAL LOOK AT AN AMAZING FOOD. Men worry about physical and mental function as they age. But aging can be limited.  Looking for products to help with your prostate issues?  Visit our Men’s category at our Catalog Store  and read about ReAssure prostate formula, FertilAid and Adam’s Prostate Progesterone cream for men. Bee pollen is a substance that bees collect from flowers to use as food. When a bee climbs into a flower to gather nectar, it brushes the flower stamen, which holds pollen. The pollen is collected in tiny baskets at the back of the bee’s legs. It is taken back to the hive, and enzymes and nectar are added to it to create bee pollen. This pollen is then used to feed the young. Bee pollen is often referred to as “the bread of bees.” What nutrients are found in bee pollen? Bee pollen is one of the few foods that, in itself, is life sustaining. This is because it contains everything we need: It is 25 percent vegetable protein (including at least 18 amino acids and all eight essential amino acids) and contains more than a dozen vitamins, 28 minerals, 11 enzymes and coenzymes, and carbohydrates. This adds up to a nutritional, more-than-a-food...

Birth Control Pills

Birth Control Pills:  The chemicals (progestins) in BCPs suppress the natural production of hormones, increase the risk of sexually transmitted diseases, and the inability to assimilate nutrients, all which prevent fertility.   Deficiencies in Vitamins B6, B12, C, Folic Acid and Iron are all associated with BCP’s . It may also raise levels of Vitamin A to toxicity which is known as a cause of birth defects.  See Progesterone F A Qs Many women experience amenorrhea when they go off the pill which means failure to menstruate OR ovulate.  All because the pill disrupts the normal flow of hormones from the hypothalamus in the brain to the pituitary gland and from there to the ovaries. For more information on restoring ovulation and healing the ovaries after chemical birth control see: OvarInfo Share and...

Galactorhea

Galactorrhea, Milk Consumption and Fertility from the book Fertility, Cycles and Nutrition by Marilyn M. Shannon New research provides evidence that in some women milk consumption may be related to decreased fertility as they age as well as early  menopause.  This is because a sugar found only in milk, galactose, is harmful to the ovaries.  When the original milk sugar, lactose, is digested, two smaller sugars, glucose and galactose, are produced. The liver quickly takes up the galactose and converts it into glucose, so that what we call “blood sugar” is all glucose.  However, some women cannot make this conversion well, and they ahve galactose circulating in their blood.  the galactose apparently is harmful to the unfertilized eggs, which must coninue to develop before ovulation. Should you restrict milk products? If you have unexplained infertility or cycle irregularities, especially sccondary infertilty in your thirties, idealy you could have you blood tested for the present of galactose.  A negative test after drinking milk would conclusively show that ths is not your problem.  If you cannot find a physician willing to test your blood, in addition to the other nutritional suggestions here, you may wish to avoid all milk products except or butter for six to nine months, charting your cycles so that you canobserve any improvement in mucus and temperature patterns. Butter is purely fat and is an essential fatty acid of sorts – important to note that many women believe it is best to drink skim or 1% milk.  This is not true because that makes it more milk, less fat and the fat is not what people have...

Natural Progesterone Cream Shutdown 3

Q: What other products/herbs/foods might be helpful to use during this time? A: Let me answer this by explaining a little about how the body works. Herbs to increase iron levels

As with anything we do at Infertility Workshop we want to make sure that the herbs we introduce you to would be healthy for TTC.  So even though we don’t have all the answers, we do want to help you with your health questions about herbs as much as possible. Herbs for increasing iron levels are as follows: The best tea for enhancing iron absorption is anise.  Mint, caraway, cumin and licorice teas are also effective but anise is the best. Gentian (available in tincture form) is used in the treatment of anemia because it stimulates the secretion of digestive juices, thereby enhancing iron absorption. Yellow dock (available in tincture form)is used to raise hemoglobin levels in the blood and is also a good source of iron. Dandelion is another helpful herb and can be taken in tincture form, but if possible, juicing is best. You can purchase it in any good produce section or healthfood store or even a farm stand.  Just juice it for the best results because you will get the entire leaf and stalk for vitamins AND minerals.
